Dam Engineering Practice Lead
Location: Northern New Jersey

A highly respected, employee-owned, multidisciplinary consulting firm is expanding its Dams, Levees, and Water Resources practice and is seeking a senior level Dam Engineering Leader to support and grow its Mid-Atlantic operations.

This role offers the opportunity to lead complex dam and levee projects, mentor technical teams, expand client relationships, and play a key role in regional and national practice growth. The position combines technical leadership, project management, and business development within a collaborative, high performing consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Lead and supervise geotechnical and structural engineering staff
  • Provide senior project management for multidisciplinary dam, levee, and water resources projects
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, invoicing, and client communications
  • Oversee preparation of construction plans, specifications, and bid documents
  • Supervise dam and levee safety inspections and condition assessments
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineering staff
  • Prepare and review technical and cost proposals
  • Coordinate and supervise field investigations, instrumentation installations, and construction monitoring
  • Perform or oversee seepage, slope stability, and structural stability analyses
  • Review and prepare technical reports, inspection reports, and permit applications
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and public sector clients
  • Support business development and market expansion initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • Master’s degree with geotechnical emphasis preferred
  • Professional Engineer license required with ability to obtain multi state licensure
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in dam and levee engineering
  • Strong background in dam safety inspections, evaluations, and rehabilitation design
  • Experience with public sector and municipal clients preferred
  • Proven seller doer and business development experience
  • Strong project financial management capability
  • Demonstrated technical and staff leadership experience
  • Proficiency with geotechnical and finite element analysis software preferred
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state dam safety regulations and guidelines
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally for project work
