Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Department Manager to lead the geotechnical department of this established office that makes money!  This is a unique opportunity to take charge of an already profitable department, driving business development, operations, and client management, all while benefiting from the resources, support, and industry reputation of a market leader.  As Department Manager, you will have the autonomy to shape the department’s success and position it for long-term growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Geotechnical Group Management: Train and mentor staff, conduct peer reviews, deliver projects to clients.
  • Client Management: Provide exceptional client service and maintain continuous communication to enhance satisfaction and foster long-term relationships.
  • Operations Management: Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day-to-day correspondence with clients.
  • Quality Control: Ensure technical excellence and high-quality standards for all deliverables. Maintain a strong commitment to integrity and client satisfaction.
  • Business Management: Oversee all aspects of department operations, growth and profitability, including P&L responsibility, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to guide staff, work closely with clients, and build a strong local team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
