Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee the daily operations of their Construction Materials Testing (CMT) laboratory in Las Vegas, NV. The candidate will ensure accurate and timely testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and other construction materials according to industry standards. This role requires technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to manage quality control, safety, and staff effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision
- Manage laboratory operations, including sample management, testing schedules, and staff supervision.
- Train and manage technicians to ensure performance meets required standards.
- Coordinate staffing to meet deadlines and ensure smooth workflow.
- Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure testing complies with ASTM, AASHTO, and other standards and regulations.
- Implement and monitor Quality Management Systems (QMS) to maintain accurate results.
- Conduct audits to maintain certifications (e.g., AASHTO, CCRL) and address corrective actions.
- Testing & Reporting
- Oversee testing of soil, asphalt, concrete, and aggregates for projects.
- Review and approve reports for accuracy and client compliance.
- Manage records to track sample status, results, and reports.
- Client Interaction & Project Coordination
- Work with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide updates on project progress and results.
- Assist in project planning by identifying testing needs and challenges.
- Handle client inquiries and resolve testing-related issues.
- Safety & Equipment Management
- Ensure the lab complies with OSHA and internal safety protocols.
- Oversee equipment calibration, maintenance, and inventory.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and purchases as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in CMT, including management or supervisory roles.
- Knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and local testing standards.
- Experience managing certifications (AASHTO, CCRL, etc.) and quality programs.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Certifications:
- ICC Certifications
- NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) Level III or IV in Construction Materials Testing.
- ACI (American Concrete Institute) Certification.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
