Position Overview

A respected consulting firm is seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to support a wide range of infrastructure and development projects. This role is well-suited for an engineer who enjoys both technical work and project execution, including coordinating field activities, completing analyses, and producing clear, high-quality deliverables.

The Project Geotechnical Engineer will contribute to project planning and delivery, support client communication, and oversee aspects of field exploration and construction observation. This position also includes mentoring support for junior staff and coordination with field teams to ensure safe, effective execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate field exploration programs and construction observation activities in accordance with project requirements and safety procedures
  • Perform geotechnical analyses and calculations to support project recommendations and design considerations
  • Prepare and support technical deliverables including reports, figures, and supporting documentation
  • Participate in project coordination activities including scheduling, budgeting support, meeting participation, and internal task planning
  • Support development of project scopes and proposals as needed
  • Conduct regular site visits and coordinate with field staff to confirm work is completed safely and to standard
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technical staff and technicians as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; advanced degree with a geotechnical focus preferred
  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant geotechnical consulting experience
  • Prior project coordination or project management experience preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-service mindset
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally and occasionally regionally

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • This position includes a combination of office-based and field-based work
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and meet project deadlines
  • Ability to safely perform field activities as required, including occasional lifting (up to ~40–50 lbs) and outdoor work in varied conditions
  • Background and reference checks may be required for employment
