Regional Vice President (Construction Materials Testing / Inspection / Geotechnical Services)

Position Overview
A highly regarded technical services organization is seeking a Regional Vice President to lead operations, business development, and project delivery across a key Northern California region. This role combines executive leadership with hands-on involvement in large, complex infrastructure and public-sector projects.
The Regional Vice President will oversee office, field, and laboratory functions and will be responsible for building strong client relationships, ensuring operational excellence, and driving profitable growth. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with deep experience in construction services, materials testing, special inspection, and/or geotechnical environments, with the ability to operate as a seller/doer when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Regional Operations
- Provide senior oversight of regional operations across office, field, and laboratory teams
- Manage key financial and operational performance metrics, including budgeting and forecast accountability
- Lead hiring, development, and mentorship initiatives to strengthen team performance and retention
- Ensure compliance with safety programs, quality standards, and applicable requirements
Project & Technical Oversight
- Provide leadership support on major projects to ensure consistent execution, quality, and client satisfaction
- Review plans, specifications, and scopes to align resources and deliverables with contract requirements
- Support project controls including scope changes, schedule coordination, and invoicing processes
- Partner with project teams to strengthen QA/QC practices and improve delivery consistency
Business Development & Client Engagement
- Drive regional growth through strategic account development, pursuit leadership, and client expansion
- Build and maintain relationships with public agencies, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders
- Represent the organization in industry associations and professional events within the region
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in construction services, heavy civil, materials testing, inspection, and/or infrastructure delivery environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across multiple functions and job sites
- Strong client-facing communication skills and experience supporting proposal pursuits and project wins
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with comfort managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency with standard business productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional licensure (PE) and/or relevant industry certifications are a plus, but not required depending on experience
