Job Description:

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and Department Manager, you will lead our geotechnical efforts primarily in Southwest Florida, working on diverse projects for various clients. You will collaborate with our national team on out-of-state projects, further expanding your expertise. Projects include large tract developments, luxury homes, high-rise condominiums, commercial structures, bridges, roadways, and utility lines. In addition to project work, you will mentor field and laboratory staff on soil/concrete testing and foundation installation inspections, with a focus on forensic investigations related to foundation distress.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with clients, develop proposals, and oversee geotechnical studies, field tests, analysis, and design.
  • Coordinate with field and laboratory staff to conduct explorations and testing.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports presenting geotechnical findings and recommendations for construction projects.
  • Schedule in-house drilling crew and subcontractors, ensuring project timelines are met.
  • Conduct site visits to construction sites, providing geotechnical support and addressing CoMET issues.
  • Perform site visits to completed structures, investigating distress and proposing repair options.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering; Must have a PE or the ability to obtain a PE license in Florida within 3 months.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in geotechnical and CoMET studies.
  • Proficiency in analyzing field/laboratory data and selecting optimal foundation options.
  • Experience in designing shallow foundations, soil improvement methods, piles, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with geotechnical design programs.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable working on construction sites and excellent teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of local subsurface conditions.
  • Fieldwork experience.
  • MS in geotechnical engineering.

Salary Range: $90,000 to $150,000
