Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer – Hawaii
A nationally recognized engineering, testing, and inspection firm is seeking a Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to support continued growth in Hawaii.

This role is ideal for a seasoned geotechnical professional who enjoys both technical leadership and project management. The selected candidate will evaluate subsurface conditions, provide geotechnical engineering recommendations, and support the design and construction of foundations, earthwork, slopes, retaining systems, and other infrastructure-related projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical projects from proposal through completion, including scope, budget, schedule, staffing, and deliverables.
- Plan and direct subsurface investigations involving soil, rock, and groundwater conditions.
- Perform advanced geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, retaining systems, earthwork, and related systems.
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports, calculations, and recommendations.
- Serve as Engineer of Record on applicable projects.
- Provide engineering support during construction.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Prepare proposals, support client relationship development, and contribute to regional business growth.
- Mentor junior staff and support office operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Experience with subsurface investigations, geotechnical analysis, and report preparation.
- Professional Engineer license in the U.S. required.
- Ability to obtain professional licensure in Hawaii within a reasonable timeframe.
- Strong technical knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, analysis methods, and relevant software.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, project teams, and internal stakeholders.
